Jordan got held by hosts Vietnam to a goalless draw in the second round of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 qualifiers, in the match that was held on Tuesday, June 13, in Saigon.
The National Team remains at the top of Group C standings with 4 points, while Cambodia climbed to second place with 3 points following their 1-0 win against Afghanistan, Vietnam in third with 2 points.
Under heavy rainfall, the two teams took turns in creating chances in the first half, while Jordan managed to control the game in the second half. However, and despite the many chances and substitutions from the head coach, Vietnam managed to hold the National Team to a 0-0 draw.
Head Coach Dr. Abdullah Al Mesfer, considered the final result as an “unlucky result”, and stressed that the draw wasn’t a satisfactory result for the National Team, as they aimed for the win and three points.
The National Team will leave Vietnam and is expected to return home on Thursday afternoon.
