Jordan Women’s National wrapped up 2017’s preparations for the upcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup & World Cup qualifiers, with a 2-1 victory over Thailand in Bangkok ending the year on a high note.

In a match that was held at the SCG Stadium on Tuesday, December 12, Jordan was determined to undo the performance in the first match which saw Thailand win 3-0 on December 9.

The two teams were drawn at the same group during the Asian Cup which Jordan hosts next April, in a match that will shape the chances of both teams for booking a World Cup qualification ticket from the group, which also includes China and the Philippines

From the start of the game, Jordan was obviously the better side in the second encounter, attacking, creating chances and dominating play for the majority of the game. Despite the many chances that the National Team had, the hosts managed to take the lead in the 27th minute from the penalty spot.

Maysa Jbarah scored the equalizer 4 minutes before halftime, with an amazing shot from outside the penalty area, which left the Thai goalie with no chance to save, bringing the game to a draw at the break.

In the second half, the team kept on looking for the winner , and it was theirs when Jbarah was on target again for the Nashmiyat, as she struck the winner in the 71st minute. The team had more opportunities to increase their lead but the match came to and end with a 2-1 victory for Jordan.

Jordan’s preparations agenda for 2017 comes to an end, with a busy schedule awaiting them ahead of the start of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup next April.
