Jordan Women’s Senior Team suffered a 3-2 defeat to Ayia Napa, in wrap up of the Cyprus Training Camp, which was held form 20-25 October, 2016.
The final match of the camp saw Ayia Napa edge out our National Team in the final minutes of the game, despite dominating the game and creating the majority of goal scoring chances, in the encounter that took place on Tuesday, October 24, at the Ayia Napa Stadium.
The hosts were the first to score, taking advantage of a defensive error in the backline, giving the chance for the hosts to take the lead. The goal pushed our team for more attacking, creating loads of chances that were only lacking clinical finishing. Hannah Kousheh found the net for Jordan in the 33rd minute, after receiving a lovely assist from Sarah Abu Sabbah, who got denied by the post earlier in the game.
In the second half, the opponents once again managed to take the lead, Maysa Jbarah almost equalized but her shot was also denied by the bar. Luna Al Masri was the one to finally convert the ball into the back of the net, with Abu Sabbah on the assist for the second time.
And although Jordan kept on attacking looking for a win, a goal from Ayia Napa took the team by surprise from a freekick that hit the post and returned back to the striker, who struck it with a header into the goal. Final score: Ayia Napa 3, Jordan 2.
Jordan’s lineup vs Ayia Napa: Shireen Al Shalabi (Salma Ghazal) – Enshirah Al Hiasat (Razan Al Zagha), Ayah Al Majali, Heba Fakhreddin (Lana Feras), Rouzbahan Fraij, Tasneem Abu Rob, Haaya Khalil (Al Anoud Ghazi), Luna Al Masri, Mai Sweilem (Stephanie Al Naber), Hannah Kousheh (Maysa Jbarah), Sarah Abu Sabbah.
