In preparation for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup and World Cup Qualifiers, Jordan Women’s National Team recorded a convincing 4-0 win over Cyprus Champions, Apollon FC, in a friendly that was held on Sunday, October 22, at the Perklisa Stadium, Ayia Napa.

The Jordanian National Team entered the match with a different approach from the previous matches, with head coach Micheal Dickey fielding a 4-3-1-2 formation, which applied a high-pressing game from the beginning of the encounter, putting the opponents under constant pressure and forcing them to lose the ball and make errors.

The Nashmiyat created a number of goal-scoring chances, until Haya Khalil opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, with an accurate left-footed shot that went into the bottom corner, after receiving a well-played through pass from captain Stephanie Al Naber.

In the second half, the team continued to dictate play, keeping possession, and moving the ball in between the lines. Maysa Jbarah doubled the lead for the visitors, when she struck Razan Al Zagha’s deflected ball into the back of the net, from inside the 6-yards (58’).

Sarah Abu Sabbah found the target again for Jordan, following a through pass from Mai Sweilem that left her one-on-one with the goalie in the 75th minute.

Tasneem Abu Rob signed on Jordan’s fourth goal in the 88th minute, smashing the ball into the back of the net, after winning the ball following an attempt from Sweilem that hit the post. Final score: Apollon 0, Jordan 4.

The National Team takes on Ayia Napa FC on Tuesday, October 24, before returning home the day after in wrap up of the Cyprus training camp.
